David, thanks for your rapid support followup last week. That helps!

I'm on to the next item, importing digital elevation (DEM) files. This may already be possible, or covered elsewhere, but just in case, these are public domain digital terrain elevation files. Here is a site where they are available

Is there a way to import this data so I can plot it?

That will require a file import plugin. I'll see what I can come up with, but it won't happen overnight.

No worries David. The files tend to be huge anyway so it may not be practical.

I'm not trying to discourage you about DEM files, but you may not be aware that DPlot does have support for NASA SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) files. These are elevation measurements available in 1 deg x 1 deg blocks, with a spacing of 1 arcsec for the US, 3 arcsecs for the remainder of the world. 3 arcsecs is the same as (as far as I've been able to tell in my brief search) the highest resolution DEM files.
