DPlot

I have plots of several data series (x y z surface) that overlap, however the overlap points are variable and based on the z value, such that I have to see the plots to determine the overlap point.

I can do this today, sort of, by cropping and applying a transformation to the axis, but it's pretty time consuming and can be imprecise. I'd like to be able to just drag one over the other and directly position to solve the overlap. Of course, this would probably require automatic adjustment of the datapoints on the incoming plot so it retained the correct position instead of snapping to (0,0).

Any suggestions on how to do this better?

Short version: no.

I'm guessing that you want to shift one plot or the other up or down by a specific amount based on what the Z value is at an identical X,Y location. If that's right, then if I were to do this myself I'd turn on the triangle borders for both plots (Options>Contour Options. Check Borders under Draw), use the mouse to find the Z value at some reference X,Y, then Edit>Operate on Z on one plot or the other to shift Z up/down. Then Edit>Copy>Data Values, Edit>Paste into the other document.

If your X,Y values don't overlap then you don't really have any choice but to use trial and error with Edit>Operate on Z.
