DPlot

My application uses the DDE link to build 3D contour surfaces from the DLL. It would be nice to force the contours to coincide with the Z-axis tick marks. In this model, it wouldn't be necessary to specify the number of Contour Levels at all.

For instance, I'd like the transition from green to blue to occur at exactly the 50 level, the transition from blue to violet at the 52 level, etc. This would be very useful for allowing the user to 'eyeball' surface slopes by measuring the distance to the nearest contour.

There's a circular problem here if you show the legend and allow DPlot to pick the Z interval. 1) DPlot picks a good interval based on the extents, font size, and available plot area. 2) Number of legend entries is determined by that tick mark interval, and legend grows to multiple columns (or shrinks). 3) There's less (or more) room for the plot than initially anticipated and for appearance's sake a new tick mark interval is picked, which 4) effects the number of legend entries, and so on (and on, and on...)

In practice this will never happen, as the default tick mark interval will never be small enough to cause the legend to grow so tall that it's broken into multiple columns. Ermm... unless you use a large font for the legend. My excuse sounds more reasonable now.

I'll need to think on this one a bit. Good idea, though.
