Check for updates

I used the check updates function on Help sometimes before and it worked perfectly. But some days ago it stopped working. How can I update it manually? Maybe downloading the free trial version, installing it and afterwards registering manually (inserting my registration number).

Since you're now on the mailing list you already have your answer. But I'm curious about what didn't work about "Check for Updates". Did it just do nothing at all, report an error, or what?
