I used the "check for updates" function and was presented with the opportunity to buy the most recent version at the existing user discount rate. After doing so, I downloaded the new version and ran the install. It picked up my licsence key normally and seems to be in an operable state. However ...

And my latest. Video capture of the DPLOT generated quakes under El Hierro to present.

4D plot, two datasets. Topology was done by assigning an arbitrary time to the Lat, Lon, Depth points. Second data set is the Lat, Lon, Depth and Time of the individual quakes.

Yes, that's the way I do it. Works like a champ.

Using Excel, I highlight the Longitude column, then the Latitude column, and select plot xyxy.

If I'm using a third or forth axis -> Lon, Lat, Value, Value. and then the appropriate plot.

The first column you select winds up being X.

I'm using Excel 2007 (12.0.6661.5000) SP2 and Dplot 2.3.3 under Win7 with no issues.

Well, with out the issue mentioned here. I do have that pesky A axis issue in the bug report, but thats it.

When generating a 4D plot from Excel, with Lat, Lon, Depth, and Date as by columns, Dplot renders the 4th axis scale (A) in -1 to 1 rather than the Excel numbers.

The data points themselves have the correct values. It's just the axis. Manually setting the range of the A axis via "Scatter Plot ...

Personally, I use 64 bit Win7 and Office 2007.

All my stuff goes to Dplot from Excel though.

Previously I reworked the data so that it was "days before present" and left it at that. It would be nice to set it to something a bit more recognizable.

BTW, I'm using Dplot generated values now so that sort of eliminates Excel.

What's the current version? I keep getting 2.2.9.9 each time and the arrow issue is still there. The cursor flashes as if it's reading from the keyboard but nothing happens. It might be that "up" is being acted on incorrectly since it slews right.

Not sure it's a bug, but before the update I could use ctrl <arrow> to slew the plot around the different axis.

Now I can only slew Left and Right using the Left and Up arrows.

The down arrow seems like it might work, but once you reach plan view you can't go back.

Actually... (to me) that's a good thing. I thought I had mangled part of the data.

Okay... this is making my head hurt. I make a scatter of the surface and the N/S/E/W comes out correct. I make a surface of the scatter, still good. Scatter of the surface again, still good. Kill all of those and go back to the original, take away the N/S/E/W, switch to default number format. Switch ...

I have found the ability to get partway there... at least it's workable. Not elegant, but highly functional. I was able to wrangle UltraEdit into a sort by column and could slice off the ends of the data I didn't want.

Mainly I'm looking to use it on scatter plots. I ran into the weird triangle effects when deleting parts of a surface plot. Most un-nerving.

Thanks for the response. Handy for 2D but I sort of need that 3rd axis data. My version of Excel can't handle more than 65K points, and to down-sample it prior to the importing costs resolution.

Still mulling this over.

How about a way to cull all data outside of the the bounds of what your extents are set to? I ask because after grinding through a massive terrain set, I only wanted to keep that part that I was interested in.
